BARKIN-LADI/JOS SOUTH DIVISIONS OF COMMUNITY POLICE PAID A COURTESY VISIT TO THE BECO PRESIDENT

Officials of the unconventional security outfit: the Community Police of Nigeria were at BECO secretariat today, 24th October, 2023 on a courtesy visit to the BECO President worldwide, Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop. Announcing the purpose of the visit, leader of the delegation Mr Pam Manzere said they were at the secretariat on a familiarisation visit.

Manzere explained further the status and modus operandi of the outfit which is a voluntary service unit affiliated with the Nigerian Police force and other security services with primary purpose of stemming insecurity within their immediate communities. He said, so far they are not under any pay package of government, but they are confident and hopeful in the resolve of the executive Governor of Plateau Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang who made an announcement during democracy day celebration that the state government is considering engaging the services of the outfit to function as state police in the near future.

Speaking separately, one of the personnel appealed to the BECO President as a matter of urgency look into the menace of rampant mining on the Plateau where miners come from across the country to mine without paying royalty to the host community substantially. He said there should be a policy on ground where all miners will be mandated to cover all mining holes after the exercise.

The visit also presents them the opportunity to make a presentation to celebrate the president on his birthday which was marked yesterday.

Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop in a response thanked the community police officials for the visit and assured them of collaboration, he also undertook to relate the matters discussed with the traditional council for possible implementation.
