The 2019-2022 EXCO of the Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation (BECO) bags a one year tenure elongation after holding a successful Congress meeting. The meeting which was held at Za’ang community hall saw Berom sons and daughters from all walks of life graced the event. The Berom from diaspora also participated via zoom who all made viable contributions.
BECO President worldwide, Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop reeled out the report of stewardship of the preaent EXCO which got the cheers from audience. He spoke passionately on the project College of education technical which is so dear to him.
It will be recalled that the tenure of this present EXCO will come to an end this May, in order to get a succession, Congress deemed it fit entend their tenure by one year, this is to enable them present a workable, befitting and functional constitution for the apex Berom organisation. The constitution which is generally accepted to be having some grey areas was stepped aside in a request by past EXCO to enable them move ahead without bottlenecks. This request was unanimously granted by the Congress.
In a bid to sanitize the system, various suggestions were fashioned out which brought two options as they all agreed a new EXCO shouldn’t be elected with a deficiency document, one of the option suggests a six month extension and the other a year’s extension, after subjecting both options into a vote, the former option got 29 votes while the latter got 42 votes. With this development, the Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop led EXCO is expected to constitute a vibrant review committee which will produce a reliable constitution which will match contemporary practices.
It’s important to note that this year’s Congress meeting is first of its kind as it recorded impressive turn out which also saw dignitaries graced the meeting amongst who were the Distinguished Sen ID Gyang, Senator representing Plateau North at the National Assembly, the executive Chairmen of Jos South, Barkin-ladi and Riyom, Hon Gideon Dandereng, Hon Jock Alamba and Hon Mafeng Gwallson respectively. The Secretary of Jos North LGA, title holders in Berom land, representative of Rev Yakubu Pam, representative of BOM, representative of BEWDA and others too numerous to mention.
To the delight of BECO, Hon Gideon Dandereng charged all Berom sons and daughters(especially those in government and in position) to pay allegiance to Berom Organizations. He emphasized the importance of having Berom spread in all political parties.
He thereafter made a handsome donation of three million naira (N3,000,000) only to be paid in three trenches beginning from May to July 2022.
Goodwill messges came from Da Jock Alamba, Hon Gideon Dandereng, Sen ID Gyang, Da Chris Bature, and BEWDA President.
