The Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation (BECO), has made a passionate appeal to the Plateau state government to use the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Middle Belt Nationalities, to create a unifying and harmonious point for all nationalities of the sub region, resident in the state. The Organisation made the request today, when it hosted Hon Dan Kwada, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Middle Belt nationalities. Speaking through its President, Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop, the BECO further assured its guests that Plateau, being a miniature Nigeria, has all it takes to has virtually become home for all nationalities of the region. Hon Dan Kwada paid a courtesy visit to BECO secretariat today, 16/09/2024, to formally have a first formal encounter with the BECO, being the host community, to set the stage for future collaboration and interaction. He appreciated the BECO for the large turnout of national and district officials, who were on hand to welcome him and his entourage, despite the very short notice. He assured his hosts of the willingness of the Caleb Mutfwang government to continue to engage critical stakeholders in the effort to deliver the much needed dividends of democracy to all the nooks and crannies of the state.
Hon Dan Kwada, further described the purpose of the visit to include fostering of unity and cooperation and, to also thank the Berom nation for their continuous support and prayer for governor Mutfwang administration. According to him, the Berom have stood with the governor through thick and thin, and further solicited for more support as the governor is committed to building a befitting legacy for the state. Kwada who traced his fraternity with the Berom to decades past, emphasized that he will not take such a relationship for granted.
The Senior Special Assistant assured BECO of the governor’s firm commitment and resolve to upholding the ideology of the Middle Belt nationalities, as he described the region as disadvantaged in terms of participation in critical decision making and development. It will be recalled that Hon. Dan Kwada is among the most recent of Governor Mutfwang’s appointments.
The BECO President Worldwide, in conclusion, urged Hon. Kwada to look at some of the many published materials with relevant information and facts about the Middle Belt struggle, to acquaint himself with the objectives and ideology of the region. He said Middle Belt advocacy is very sensitive, hence the creation of the office to tackle it. He assured Hon. Kwada of continuous support to governor Mutfwang’s administration.
Giving a vote of thanks, BECO Secretary General, Da Chollom Gyang appreciated the visitors and solicited for the construction of Middle Belt Headquarters in Plateau State.
