The condolence visit was led by the BECO President worldwide, Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop alongside other members of his executive as well as central executive council members. Describing the deceased as a perfect gentleman, Da Gyang Dudu said Da Patrick demonstrated patriotism, love and passion in the course of his sojourn as Chairman Du district where he attained laudable achievements.

Da Gyang Dudu said the past Chairman was a role model to the younger generation because of his dedication and love to the service of the Berom people, He said the deceased will be greatly missed, as his wise counsel and leadership style meant a lot.

The BECO President extends the hearty condolences to the immediate family, Du district, Jos South LGC and Plateau State in general for the loss of Da Patrick. He said the deceased was a silent achiever, who despite his age was committed in the task before him.

Responding on behalf of the family, the executive Chairman of Jos South, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung appreciated BECO for the show of love and solidarity, describing the visit as a comforting endeavour. Hon Dung, attested to the commitment his late father had to the service of Berom land which recalled dates back since 90s.

Hon. Silas Patrick Dung narrated how the family has been battling with the ill health of their late dad. He said, though death is inevitable, however, the family will really miss him considering his love for the family as well as elderly counsel.

Prayer was offered for the family for a divine comfort and strengthening in this moment of sorrow.

Da Patrick Silas was lived a fulfilled life as a successful family man as well as a resolute community leader, he will be laid to rest next week Tuesday, 4th August, 2026 at the family burial ground at Topp, Rayfield, Jos South LGA.

For us in the BECO, Prof Chollom remains a shining example of unassuming integrity, humility, commitment and unquestionable sacrifice to service to humanity. He had served BECO, with exemplary candour and distinction, as Chairman of our standing committee on Education, Steering Committee on the Proposed BECO College of Education (Technical), Interview Panel on the Appointment of Principal of the BECO Comprehensive Secondary School, among many other responsibilities.

It is with extreme ease that we unequivocally state that Prof Chollom performed all these and many other ad-hoc assignments with maximum dedication.
We are least surprised at the recent appointment of the choleric scholar, excellent teacher and expert researcher, as DVC.
We are in no doubt at all that this is not only a well deserved but highly merited appointment.

Our confidence in the cherished antecedents of Prof Chollom tells us he will excel in the office of the DVC (Academics). We therefore, uphold our dear brother, friend, son, leader and an embodiment of morality, in prayers. God who made it possible for him to ascend into the seat is faithful to keep him from falling.

The SAP serves as the primary multi-stakeholder platform responsible for coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on the 3rd State Action Plan on Women , Peace, and Security (WPS) in Plateau State.

This development is in conformity with the United Nation Security Council Council Resolution (UNSCR 1325), a landmark resolution from 2,000 that links women’s experiences in conflict to the maintenance of international peace and security. It calls for the equal and full participation of women in peace processes, acknowledges the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls, and stresses the need to protect women from gender – based violence in conflict zones. This resolution initiated the broader Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda, which has been expanded by subsequent resolutions.

Key aspects of UNSCR 1325 include; participation, protection, conflict prevention and resolution and implementation.

This appointment is no doubt a recognition of Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop giant strides and monumental impact in shaping and creating an enduring roadmap for the activities of the WPS structure through one of its networks, HeForShe which he serves as state co-ordinator.

This appointment will see the team show strong support and commitment in the implementation and monitoring of the SAP in HeForShe sector, contribute data, insights, and reports on WPS related interventions, promote collaboration and institutional alignment with the SAP and LAP and finally champion the mainstreaming of gender and WPS principles in state and community development initiatives.
