For us in the BECO, Prof Chollom remains a shining example of unassuming integrity, humility, commitment and unquestionable sacrifice to service to humanity. He had served BECO, with exemplary candour and distinction, as Chairman of our standing committee on Education, Steering Committee on the Proposed BECO College of Education (Technical), Interview Panel on the Appointment of Principal of the BECO Comprehensive Secondary School, among many other responsibilities.

It is with extreme ease that we unequivocally state that Prof Chollom performed all these and many other ad-hoc assignments with maximum dedication.
We are least surprised at the recent appointment of the choleric scholar, excellent teacher and expert researcher, as DVC.
We are in no doubt at all that this is not only a well deserved but highly merited appointment.

Our confidence in the cherished antecedents of Prof Chollom tells us he will excel in the office of the DVC (Academics). We therefore, uphold our dear brother, friend, son, leader and an embodiment of morality, in prayers. God who made it possible for him to ascend into the seat is faithful to keep him from falling.

The SAP serves as the primary multi-stakeholder platform responsible for coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on the 3rd State Action Plan on Women , Peace, and Security (WPS) in Plateau State.

This development is in conformity with the United Nation Security Council Council Resolution (UNSCR 1325), a landmark resolution from 2,000 that links women’s experiences in conflict to the maintenance of international peace and security. It calls for the equal and full participation of women in peace processes, acknowledges the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls, and stresses the need to protect women from gender – based violence in conflict zones. This resolution initiated the broader Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda, which has been expanded by subsequent resolutions.

Key aspects of UNSCR 1325 include; participation, protection, conflict prevention and resolution and implementation.

This appointment is no doubt a recognition of Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop giant strides and monumental impact in shaping and creating an enduring roadmap for the activities of the WPS structure through one of its networks, HeForShe which he serves as state co-ordinator.

This appointment will see the team show strong support and commitment in the implementation and monitoring of the SAP in HeForShe sector, contribute data, insights, and reports on WPS related interventions, promote collaboration and institutional alignment with the SAP and LAP and finally champion the mainstreaming of gender and WPS principles in state and community development initiatives.
